Description
Jugulans cinera, 6-12", matures to 40-60'. Prefers partial shade to full sun; alkaline, moist, well-drained soils. Also known as the butternut walnut, the nuts are edible and were commonly used to make butter-like oil. The wood, like black walnut, is a prized wood for its lightweight and rot resistance.
